Using your Ritual Rosin: Tips & Tricks
Storage
Keep your rosin refrigerated when not in use. Storing live rosin at low temperatures and away from light will help to preserve its consistency and terps.
Materials
You will need:
- A dab wand (a.k.a. dab tool)
- A concentrate consumption device (atomizer)
- Cotton swabs (q tips)
Your dab wand can be as simple as the small metal tools found at most pharmacies or smoke shops, or as elevated as a Puffco Hot Knife or other electronic tool. Concentrate consumption devices are also available in a range of styles; most rosin users prefer devices with a glass or ceramic atomizer, like the offerings from Puffco and Carta. Finally, cotton swabs are key to have on hand for cleanup.
Preparation
When you're ready to use your rosin, bring your product out of the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature before opening the jar. This will result in the best experience of your live rosin, as the terps are louder and the consistency is softer at room temperature.
Usage
The ideal temperatures for live rosin range from 420-490 degrees Fahrenheit, and keeping your device in this range will yield the best results for flavor and overall experience. Be sure to calibrate your dab device's settings to these lower temperatures. Other types of concentrates may call for higher temperatures.
Cleanup
It's normal to see residue left behind after each dab. Make sure to clean up your atomizer with the cotton swabs you have on hand, ideally while the device is still warm, until the atomizer looks clean and free of residue. Leaving residue behind can lead to a less flavorful, less positive experience with future dabs. Cleaning your device will also extend its life and keep it in great shape.
Hand-curated, premium cannabis concentrate from Ritual
The dream
Live rosin (sometimes called "live hash rosin") is a highly sought after cannabis concentrate which retains the live terpenes, cannabinoids, and THC present in each cannabis flower. Extracted using just ice, water, and pressure, think of live rosin as the essence of a cannabis flower strain. Patients typically vaporize their rosin in a reloadable vaporizer or consume through a vape cartridge.
Ritual seeks to provide Utah patients with the live rosin form factor at the highest quality. And what does high quality mean for rosin? It means that the rosin is full of the natural terpenes in that specific strain and is not lost due to the extraction process. When a rosin has premium terpene content, it is buddery, juicy, loud, and flavorful. Ask any rosin enthusiast – they will tell you it’s all about terps.
What goes into making the dream come true?
It all starts with genetics – which strains will exhibit the characteristics of a great rosin-washing strain? By doing careful research and performing tests throughout a strain’s lifecycle, our grow team works to pinpoint certain genetics that produce great rosin. From there, our lab team takes the freshly frozen flower from these strains and washes them in ice and water, stripping off the trichomes. The residue left behind from these washings is then cured and pressed.
To achieve the most premium results, we developed a set of criteria to ensure our rosin is of the highest quality.
- First, a good texture indicates a desirable terpene profile. Drier rosin contains fewer terpenes, while juicier texture indicates more terpene content. We strive for that perfect balance between budder and batter, which contains even higher amounts of terpenes.
- Second, aroma plays one of the biggest roles in determining a rosin’s quality; a good terpene profile can be immediately detected by an expert cultivator through the aroma, which should have all the notes of the strain it was pressed from but much more potent.
- Third, we look at the rosin’s color. While different strains can produce a variety of shades ranging from orange to light amber, we primarily look for signs that indicate a fault in the process, such as a green shade (indicating plant matter) and overly dark rosin (indicating a fault in temperature and/or pressure).
- Fourth, we aim for a THC potency over 60% and a terpene content between 2 and 5%. Higher terpene percentages will necessarily reduce the percentage value of the THC potency, so 60 to 70% THC is considered premium for this type of rosin. What makes live rosin valuable to enthusiasts are the full spectrum effects, which are facilitated by higher terp contents, not just its absolute THC potency.
The dream continues . . .
Each rosin released by Ritual is unique to the plant it is extracted from, making each batch a unique experience. Terpene, cannabinoid, and THC content can vary between batches. Our high quality standards also limit the quantity we can produce, so Ritual Rosin will be available in small batch releases.
Each limited release of Ritual Rosin will be a one-time experience unlikely to be replicated exactly the same as the first time. Think of each Ritual rosin batch as a snapshot of a plant’s whole lifecycle. So don’t miss the drops - sign up for early access and be the first to hear about new Ritual launches!
As we continue to research genetics and press new and reliable strains, our team is focused on adopting any new methods that may push the quality further.
